Philas Awards
The Philas Awards for meritorious service to philately in NSW.This prestigious award includes:
- The Certificate of Merit for distinguished voluntary service to philately in NSW,
- The Philas Medal for Meritorious Service to Philately in NSW, a higher honour
- The Stanley Griffith Award for Meritorious Service to Philately at Club Level, recognised with a special certificate.
Each of these awards celebrates significant contributions to philately in New South Wales. Nominations are invited from clubs.
The rules applying to the Philas Award (at any level) are:
- The recipient of the Award shall be a person who is, or has been, associated in a meritorious manner with philately within New South Wales.
- Once having received the Award, no recipient shall again be eligible as a candidate for that level of the Award but may subsequently be nominated for a higher level of the Award.
- Nominations of candidates for the Award are acceptable from the Philatelic Association of NSW Inc. and from any affiliated Society.
- Nomination(s) shall be in writing detailing the candidate’s name and place of residence together with a statement outlining the reasons for such candidate to be considered eligible for the Award.
- Such nominations shall be emailed to the Philas Secretary at office@philas.org.au and should include the nomination letter attached. The subject line should read “Philas Award Nomination". Alternatively, nominations may be mailed to Philas, PO Box 6046, Silverwater NSW 2128.
- Nominations shall be signed and dated by the President and Secretary of the nominating Association, Club, or Society.
- All nominations must arrive by close of business on 30th September each year.
- Awards will be announced at the Annual General Meeting of the Association in November.
